So You Think You Can Dance 2012: What To Expect This Week

The Top 20 perform again this week on So You Think You Can Dance 2012, but by the end of the show, only some will be moving on.

Be sure to tune in Wednesday at 8 pm for the one-hour live performance show. This is the first week we’ll get the performances, find out the bottom dancers and say goodbye to four of them (Fox is making everything so confusing this year — the press release says two will be eliminated but everyone else is saying four). The Top 10 guys and Top 10 girls will be performing again as couples to new genres.

Why only one night this year? All the other reality dance and talent shows get a result night! Does this mean the network is considering not renewing SYTYCD for the next season? I miss havig the choreographers as judges and don’t like having celebrities as judges. I do like the addition of the all stars and having 2 winners. But I fear for the survival of the show. It is my all time favorite show of my lifetime and I don’t want to see it go.

This is the only site I have seen that says two — three guys and three gals are in jeopardy of elimination after last week’s routine.
The same 10 couples will select (randomly?) a different genre/choreographer/routine this week.
After those performances, the judges will reveal those in jeopardy and ask them to do D4L solos.
Guest judge Adam Shankman, Nigel, and Mary will review last week’s couple performance, this week’s, and the solos. They will save one guy and one gal. The saved dancers will be paired next week.
The other FOUR (two guys and two gals) will be going home.
Viewers will vote on the remaining 16 putting six dancers in jeopardy of being one of the TWO dancers to be eliminated next week.
I am 99.9% sure this is the way it will work unless the producers throw a last minute curve.

I believe the reason for 4 dancers going home tonight is because of them skipping a broadcast on July 4 so they have to stay on schedule….normally only 2 would go home. But it sure will make for some stressed out dancers tonight….
