Hey everyone! I know you all love to watch people dance on SYTYCD, but how do you feel about actually getting up off the couch and shaking your groove thing yourself? Well, regardless of how you feel about it, it can’t hurt to get up

and try. Actually… it could hurt your ego a bit (dancing is hard, y’all!) but if you try it with friends, it is sure to be fun! And what better way to force yourself to put on your dancing shoes than National Dance Day!

Thanks to the Dizzy Feet Foundation, we will all have a shot to be dance stars on July 28, 2012.

Find out how, after the jump.

Like I said, dancing can be hard, so the fine people at Dizzy Feet have come up with two routines so you can participate at any level. For the beginners (or, as Nigel says, the old people too) there is a Zumba routine from two of the  Zumba Fitness crew – Kass and Gina. In the instructional video, they are helped out by two So You Think You Can Dance Alum – Alison Holker and Ade Obayomi.

But if you have a bit of the dance talent, or you are feeling adventurous, you can check out the Hip-Hop Master Class taught by Season 4 dancer, Lauren Gottlieb. She gets some help from Season 7 Winner Lauren Froderman and Season 5 finalist Brandon Bryant.

Granted, this whole event is a lot more fun if you’ll be in LA and can participate with the big crowd, but even if you are just getting up and hitting the dance floor in your living room you are supporting a great cause.

For all the information about National Dance Day (including the videos teaching you the routines) and to find out more about the Dizzy Feet Foundation, check out their website.

I’m sure there will be more information coming from Nigel during the performance shows too! But either way, I expect everyone to be dancing along with me on July 28th! (No… I won’t be posting a video of that. Thanks for asking.)
