Debbie Reynolds? Really. That’s the question many So You Think You Can Dance zealots will surely be asking themselves this week when the actress serves as a guest judge, tasked with eliminating not two, but four contestants.

SYTYCD, which has typically tapped dancers and chchoreographers as judges that are often unknown to mainstream viewers, is opting to glitz up Season 8 with pop icons.

Last week, the third judges chair, which in Season 7 was filled by Adam Shankman, was taken by former Will & Grace star Megan Mullallay. While Mullallay has some dance background, having studied ballet as a teen, her critiques lacked the same expertiseas Tyce Diori, Debbie Allen and even Lil C.

While Debbie Reynolds has a strong musical background, having appeared in several musicals including Singin’ in the Rain, she will unlikely be able to hold a candle to professional pirouetters.

Reynolds, along with Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe and ballroom dancer Mary Murphy, must eliminate four dancers, after passing on cutting any contestants last week.

Mullallay and Reynolds are part of a growing list of musicians and actors that have been chosen to serve as guest judges. The lists also includes Lady Gaga, and possible Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris.
